Species
We are very excited to know that it is very likely that dormice live in our wood! Please see our latest blog posts for more information.
We have set up a few citizen science projects that we'd love for people to get involved in, please see more below:
About iNaturalist:
We have started an iNaturalist project for Clay Pit Wood which you can view via the link below:
iNaturalist is a website and an app that can keep track of encounters with wildlife, which it uses to create useful data to help scientists and ourselves understand our environment better. Observations are shared with scientific repositories like the Global Biodiversity Information Facility and with the local community.
It works by uploading photos and you can use the app/website to identify the species you have found. We have started a group project with a specific area set to Clay Pit Wood. Please get in touch if you wish to be added to the project.
About iRecord:
We have also started an iRecord project for Clay Pit Woods which is an app and website which is more specific to the UK. Each photo/sighting is verified by an ecologist and uploaded to the biodiveristy register. Please get in touch if you would like to join our project.
"The goal of iRecord is to make it easier for wildlife sightings to be collated, checked by experts and made available to support research and decision-making at local and national levels. Join iRecord now to share your sightings with the recording community, explore dynamic maps and graphs of your data and make a real contribution to science and conservation.
If you would like to be involved, give us an email at claypitwood@proton.me We'd love to hear from local people about their connection with the woods or anyone who is passionate about the wildlife around them.
This webite is a work in progress, if you are interested in attending future events, please give us an email.
